Idle Sticking!

Strange situation, after the car has warmed, its seems to have a high idle stick when braking not really hunting I'm either in the 550-600 range or 800-900 range when stopped in drive, if I tap the accelerator it drops down to where it should be. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like the butterfly might be sticking. Those things get nasty after a while and need to be cleaned on a regular basis.

On my 85 a few times my idle has been shooting up tp like 1500/1800 rps! for no reason what so ever?Then after 10 to 15 minutes it shoots back down. This can happen at any time. I opeaned the hood when it was doing it and the Throttle lever was right against the screw ?
