A piece of wood broke my radiator. I took the corvette to the dealership to fix the radiator. After changing the radiator and fixing the radiator issue, I notice that only the Digital portion of the temperature gauge was working. The Analog gauge at the cluster was not working. I took the vette back to the dealer and now they are saying that cluster is not working. I strongly think that the dealer are wrong. The analog gadge was working before the radiator rupture.
Question: Any suggestion? Does the sensor in top of the Watter Pump control the analog/digital sensor?
My 92 anolog gauge has always read lower than the digital. Without looking through the service manual, I don't remember which sensor controls the anolog gauge. Check the connections to the one on the water pump as they did have the radiator out. Also, check the connection at the sensor on the pass side of the engine near #5 and #7.
Thanks for the help,, another Member mentioned to me that the one in top of the Watter pump is the one control by the ECM. I did unpluged that one and the engine had hard time turning up. Even the computer on the Console came up with a Service Eng. soon. and the Digital temp did not work.
The member mentioned to me that their is another sensor close to Spark plut 6-8 (in between). I noteced that plastic base was broken. I bought it for $14.00. I have not change it yet.
Question: I am not sure if while I am changing it, if it will lick out Antifreeze etc. Any suggestions?
Hey Fabian, I'm sorry I gave you some bad info. Instead of #5 and #7, it should have been #6 and #8. I must be dislexsic or what ever it's called. Before you take out that sensor, drain some of the coolant as it will spill to that level.
