Not to start a bunch more fights, but my torque is back!! For those who followed my exhaust saga. Things are great now. I took my resonator off my SLP system, and replaced it with straight pipe. Well, I had a noticable loss in low end pull. It also had a slight flutter at about 1500/2000 rpm. Well, I took it all apart again, and welded a cross pipe in between the straight pipes. The flutter is gone, and the low end is no longer lazy. My car has that "muscle car" sound that I wanted. All for about $40 and a few hours work. :D
Surious though. What is the exact system you have? Is it 3" SS duel SLP LT1 system?
Reason I'm asking is I have one of them I am having installed this weekend. I will take your word for it that you gained by having the H pipe installed. Few questions first:
1. What sounded better with or without the resonator, assuming off, since you removed it. I want to run without it too, for weight reduction.
2. What did the car sound like without the H pipe? Better with or wihout?
3. Power from each, guess you figure the H pipe wins over the other configs from your above happiness.
Trust me, before I wasn't busting your *****. I just did not think the backpressure would make that much of a difference. If your right that is great maybe I will pick up some ET with running this exhaust.
Lookin forward to hearing your responses and will go with your advice if you think the H pipe is the way to go. :lurk:

First, the system was SLP's cat-back 3" SS. It has since been discontinued I hear. I can't say I gained overall with the crosspipe, but I gained from my first change, when I took the resonator off and just went straight. This change was mostly for sound, not performance. That's why I was so pissy with losing the torque. If I ever get to the track, I'll see if there's any performance change.
The car had a "meaner" sound without the crosspipe, but had a very noticable flutter at mid rpm. With the crosspipe, the flutter is gone, but has a bit mellower sound. All in all, still much better sounding than the resonator.
I will probably have them make it straight duels and see how it goes with that, then maybe a H pipe. I have ~6 hour drive today out there, so I will decide along the way.
How loud would you say your exhaust is on a scale of 1-10 (10 loudest)

With Resonator=
With just straight pipes =
WIth H pipe=
Thanks.
Resonator...about a 6
Straight pipe...about a 9
h-pipe...about a 8.
The biggest issue was not only the loudness, but a more raspy tone. The exhaust used to be real smooth. In other words, it was a more gradual sound when mashing the throttle. Now, I mash it, you know I'm comin' !! :D
