Got the car back....
First I would like to say thanks to MOJO for letting me keep my exhaust and trailer at his place for 2 weeks while I waited for the car to get done.
Dad and I made our trip back out to NJ on Friday night and grabbed a hotel room so we could get an early start Saturday to pick up the car from Neverlift.
We arrived at Neverlift a tad bit late and at first glance was a little disapointed to find that Leo did not install the passengers side bar. But on the way out to get the car I sorta had reserves about telling him to install a fixed bar on that side, for if I ever tried to sell the car, that fixed bar might really hinder the selling of the car. So in a way it was a sorta blessing he forgot. Other than that little mixup, the install was first class all the way! Really sweet and I will take pictures of it ASAP.
We got the car loaded there after chatting a bit with Leo and they were on our way to have the 3" SS SLP exhaust installed. We finally arrived at Mufflex about 1.5 hours later than our appointment due to jerseys wonderful roads, and maps that show road on a map, but that do not exist in real life  Its gotta be some local sick joke. :mad Mufflex was PACKED! I figured for sure they would not take me in. But they did and they got on the car right away. Right away it was apparent that the SLP LT1 exhaust was going to need some serious messaging to get it to work and look right. So much for just shortening and matching up the pipes. They basically took the entire system apart at the seams and totally rebuilt the system piece by piece. Two guys worked non-stop for 3 hours and I thought for sure my $50-100 job had turned into easily 500+ dollars. I was shocked to only get a $325 bill and the job is perfect. They added an H pipe in the system and everything. And man can they build an awesome system! Every seam is welded perfectly. I was very happy with the install, but what would it sound like? Upon turning the key a huge :D came to my face, and the guys in the shop were like
The note is AWESOME! Its about 2x as loud as my other exhaust, but its a good sound. VERY throaty and DEEP. You can REALLY hear the cam now. Dad got in it and revved it to about 3500-4000 RPM a few quick times. Its gonna SCREAM at that RPM! VERY tough sounding and I am very please with the results.
I have not driven the car yet so I will have to report back what it sounds like on the street. Should be pretty tough sounding.
I will post picture of both ASAP.
I'm curious as to why you decided to ditch the 2.5 true duals? Is there a lot of power to be gained going to 3"?
I have been thinking about going with true duals (currenly have headers-y pipe-single3"-y pipe-shortie mufflers+tips.) I wonder if true duals would help my performance at all....
My 2.5" exuast was not mandrel bent and was <2" in spots. It was like putting a noose around the 406. On the street loosing some HP/TQ was actually probably a blessing in disguise. At the track with the 2.5" exhaust I would gain .3 tenths and 3 MPH with dropping the exhaust off and running open headers.
NOw with the duel 3" mandrel bent through basically straight through mufflers. These SLP mufflers, you can look straight through them like they are just pipes through with packing around the outside! I about crapped when they unhooked them from the pipes and I could see sraight through them.
Corky is running this same type of exhaust and he doesn't loose anything between open headers and his exhaust so I should be fine.
I will report that I took the car out for a quick drive (slicks on) and its LOUD, maybe too loud, but I already had a headache and that might have just made the car seem worse, so tomorrow when I take it out to clean the inside etc, I will let you all know my take on it. THere is no double its at least 2x louder than flowmasters and 2.5" exhaust.
I opened it up on a straight stretch and it was ungodly loud, so I can image what is sounds like outside the car, as I had all the windows up etc.
Pretty cool I must say. :D
