Roll Cage Pictures....
Some of you were emailing me for pictures of the roll bar I just had installed at Neverlift.
Here are the pictures of it. It was a really nice job that Leo did.
I got the swingout bar that can be taken completely off with one bolt located at the pivot point if you opt to not have it there on the street.
I delivered the car there two weeks ago, they gutted the inside of the car, bend each tub seperate, welded it, and painted it, then put the insides back together for ~1300 dollars.
The bar is Chro-Moly and weights from what Leo said about 40lbs. A mild steel constructed one would be over 100lbs from what I have gathered. Now I just have to get it to a strip
Here are the pictures. Dad (Kork), the model, is taking his 67 Chevelle out there next weekend to have one installed in that as well. 1st class work that Leo does. If someone did not know better, Really it looks like it came in the car from the factory. Very happy with it.
Also I tried to take a picture of the Exhaust, but it was almost dark outside. I put the street tires on it and took it for a ride tonight. WOW do I like the way it sounds. Resonance is not all that bad. But its freakin loud as all heck. Dad drove it up and down the road where he lives. They live in a very mountainous area of PA with very few homes. I could hear him turning around ~3/4 of a mile away! And then he got on it going past me. WOW! I was standing about 30 yards from the road and you could feel it in your chest as he accelerated past! I am going to have to watch it in town, around cops. I idled past one coming back into town and he gave me the eye pretty good. I am thoughly happy with all the work that was done this past weekend.
Just need a harness now, probably order it today. Then I will be all set!

Hope you all enjoyed them. Let me know what you think!
PS the bar is welded to the frame at all point in case anyone is wondering.

To be 100% honest the carpet fits so good to the bar I'm not real sure how he did it. LOL.
I will have to take a closer look at the install. I was concentrating on getting the wheels changed and taking it for a cruise that I have not even looked at the way he installed it that close.
My guess is it can be done either way. I think that hey just cut circular holes down though where they are needed, but I might be mistaken.
I will check it out tonight or when I return from a business trip I have to go on for the next two days.
But I would imagine you could do it either way. If you really wanted to do it and slice to the nearest end sorta speak, they make that tape glue that you put under carpet seams, and then run and iron over it and it mends the seam, so they can't seperate again. That might be an option. If you did your carpet after the bar. I would put it in first then let him do the hard work. Hell that is what your paying him for. :D
Look into yur local statutes. Over here exhaust has to emit (popping or crackling) before a cop can give a ticket. My brother's a cop in my city and I ask him why hedoesn't ticket the zillions of REALLY loud pickups and he says it's very hard to make it stick as its subjective. Most like you'll get pulled over for one thing (like exhaust) and they'll try to nab you for something else they can make stick (like speeding or seatbelts). If you're all good they won't be able to pin anything on you because you have full exhaust and stock (at least as far as they can tell) mufflers. Hope this helps.
nice cage.

Thanks for the information. I guess what I am worried about more than anything, is attracting attention from them. I selmod screw around on the street, but at times I might accidentially slip the rear tires :)
We live in a very small area that everyone knows everyone. And its only a matter of time before they nab you for something else if they suspect your racing around. Also, it decieving when your only giving it 1/8 throttle to take out and it sounds like my 350 did at WOT. LOL
Thanks on the bar also.

What a deal @ $1300. Too bad they are on the other side of the continent, or I would have them do one for me. I really like the swing out.
Don't worry about the Cops & your exhaust. I can't believe how much the Harleys get away with. I know some guys that are running straight pipes on their Harleys and they never get hassled...and those bikes are really fudgin' LOUD!

Suppose I will hear about it from other, not so friendlies.

My thoughts, exactly. I don't know if I should put the interior in first or have the bar installed first. (Well, I guess the welder could give me his preference)
Looks real good Jesse. But...uhhh...where you gonna store the top. I mean, that's not a race car, is it? :p:
