And you think 250F is ok for an engine that is not race-ready, and hasnt even gotten over 2400rpm.
I'm sorry but thats not right. It should not be getting there, if the sensor is reading the correct data.
blackbeauty, have you replaced the oil temp sensor, or pressure sending unit yet. They would be the next thing to replace. If your pressure holds right now, then it probably isnt the oil pump

Thanks for the reply. I thought that I had replyed to this on Friday but I don't see it posted. Sorry about the delay. I have checked the oil temps with a cooking thermometer and the reading from the senor is acurate.
On mine the extra heat is due to the oil cooler line being less than an 1" from the headers.
Although I have never seen 250F from my oil (thank god), I don't think it should go that high.. It may be 'OK' for it to get that high, but it is not supposed to.. Our cars should idle effortlessly between 200-230F oil and coolant both for hours on end.
