OKay, I got some good advice from you guys about upgrading my C4 stock brakes and I may go w/the C5 brakes on that one. I am also considering a major HP/engine upgrade. Since I have 129k on current motor, would it be better to go w/383 stroker upgrade? supercharger would be out, I think. I am no mechanic, other than minor stuff, so it would be professionally done. What can I expect to pay and how much extra HP can I expect? Any other issues/surprises I should look for while shopping around. PS- I will be doing the work in the Sacramento area, if anyone knows of a good shop. thks. Daniel
You would have to get specific pricing on engine work from a local shop. How much its going to cost depend greatly on how much YOU can do yourself. Some might charge 3K, some over 10K, depending.
Living in CA, youre limited to either porting your intake or using the Superram. SR is CARB legal, and i think the 74219 cam is too. You can get those new at Lingenfelter.com or used on eBay.
Heads, the best would be AFR 190 (expensive), especially for a 383. But you could get some 88-91 vette heads off ebay and have those worked over. This should get you over 400hp. Your only problem would be the inability to use longtube headers, since those wont pass emissions in CA.
