Pulling codes for 94, plus diagnostic mode question
Can someone give me a pinout of the OBD II connector I have in my 94, and what the function is of each of the pins? I've seen a couple of other posts about shorting pins 4 and 12, but it would be nice to know what all the pins do. Also, can I use buttons on the DIC console to scroll back and forth in the display?
One final question. Does the 94 have a field diagnostic mode that will allow you to drive the car with certain pins jumpered and display a flashing indicator of whether or not you are in closed loop operation, as well as O2 sensor status? My manual indicates you can do this with the SES method of checking codes, but doesn't say anything about it when the codes are read from the speedo. Thanks.

Ok guys, I got a "C12" for module 1.1. Is that just a normal code? I couldn't find it in the manual, so I assume it is analogous to a flashing "12" using the other method. Is this correct?
Any other info on whether or not I can do a field diagnostic test with the car running?

Ah yes, I just found that out reading another post :D
There is an "Output/Field Diagnostic Enable" pin on the connector, I forget which one. I may try grounding that tomorrow with the engine running and see what happens. I'd really like to get a quick and dirty view of my O2 sensors' behavior.
Re: Pulling codes for 94, plus diagnostic mode question (HammerDown)
why not grab a laptop, buy the $65 cable and download the trial version of datamaster? you get 20 recording sessions free, and the software is like $100 if you like it...and you would have info on what everything is doing. there is a bunch of free software out there too...
