I am considering ordering new plug wires. I have seen the Accel wires addvertised in MAD and I have seen the MSD 8mm Spiro Pro wires for $42 via Racenet Performance. I do like the RED MSD's visually. Is there much of a difference between the two?
Just noticed the 8.5 MM MSD's at $70. Is that the path to follow? I think it is a start in "dressing" up the look of my engine as well. Wires need replaced anyways, so just getting the input from all comers.
There is supposed to be a difference in resistance between wire brands.
I use the MSD 8.5mm Superconductors, several others do too.
For some reason when I think of Accel wires I picture that big 4x4 truck that always pulls into a car show. You know the one...the one with the entire engine visible from the wheel well and the bandana hanging from the side mirror.
just placed order for 8.5 superconductors. I will take some photos and post on my link when I get them and they are installed. Looking forward to yet, one more step in the right direction.

You'll need to get some looms as well. I grabbed some at Autozone. They came in two's three's and fours. Colors too. I have extras in the garage if you want them.
MSD's are good, I run them, but I had to loom the wires under the A/C alt bracket as the cloverleaf loom wouldn't work. Just ream the plastic clips with a 5/16 cutting tool on your Dremel.
The stock retainer clips are 7 or 8mm. The MSD's are 8.5mm. I wound up making my own looms, similar to the factory style. But guys have just reamed the clips and say they work just fine.
OK, not too sound even dumber than usuall, but I have another question. First, the 8.5 MM wires will fit on cap and plugs, correct? By looms, u mean that I must adapt the "spacers" that hold the wires together nicely, yes? I hate to have to break this down in such simple terms, but I am still learning to work on my vette.
No problem. When you talk about looming, you talk about holding the wires in the correct routing. The cap and plug connections are great with the MSD's and fit nicely. Don't throw away the chafe guarding around your original wires. Clean them up and reuse them. Once you have your wires in place and clipped into the looms, make sure they don't touch the exhaust.

Re: MSD or ACCEL? plug wires... (dbwade36)
Just got a set of Taylor wires. They come with their own set of wire seperators and snap on to the plugs. They come in a lot of different colors and look great. I got the 35 degree plug boots for routing over the valve covers. Try Perfermance Auto Warehouse (PAW) as they have free shipping. :)
After my current ignition system blew right through the side of a new set of Blue Max wires I installed the MSD supercondutor wires and it made such a difference that my car felt like I had gained 50 hp over the Moroso wires.
I bought the red universal set and cut them to fit that way you can route them like you want.
I bought the MSD's but I had a set op TPIS wires that I sold to a fellow member before ever installing them. The TPIS was a high quality and they fit in stock holders.
