what turns the under hood lights on and off?? my battery is draining and it seems that maybe these are stayin on...after the interior lights go out they are still on with the hood just cracked...does it have to be shut all the way?? i don't seem to see any switches ?? help
There are little connectors near the turn signal light area. Un clip the one's for the hood when you want the hood up without draining the battery(shows/track etc).
On the DS, just in front of the wheel well, there is a covered fuse holder. Pop the top and remove the 10amp fuse. This will disable the circuit for both lights.
The lights are controled by mercury switchs next to the bulbs. In the pic, the mercury switch is the little "can" just above the bulb.
Be careful taking the lens off, it's glass!
There is a black weatherpak connector in the front corner that connects the underhood lights to power. It's easy to unplug them there. In the following pic, you can see the green gasket of the unplugged weatherpak (driver's side). Similar on the passenger side.
thanks guys  i don't really want to disconnect them i allready did that to keep the drain from occuring i wanna get tehm fixed and working right...though that kit with the switch from mad sounds cool...maybe i'll look into that :D
....did some one say be careful with the lense because its glass? mine are warped due to heat!! at what temp does glass melt at ? how could this have happened? ?
My '96 are glass lens covers. Maybe they changed from plastic because of the heat problem. If you want more light there is a higher wattage bulb that fits in the sockets. Don't remember what the part number is. I also unplug the light wiring harness on the drivers side and remove the fuse. I keep it in the consol in case I need it for a night show.
