Finaly got around to installing the new dana 36 carrier and 3.73 gears today and it was hot verry hot (90+). One thing I noticed was the 84 3.07 carrier's casting looked allot better then the one I bought, Ithink it was a 89.
You are going to like them! Give them a couple of hundred miles to seat before you put your foot into it.
Took me a little while to get used to them, had the rear tires break loose hitting second gear in a turn at 3,500 rpms with ASR engaged. Things were interesting for a moment or two.

No problem on the couple of hundred mile I will be breaking in my new LT1 so I will be taking it easy for a while. I cant wait to see what my new set up is going to be like. I am going from a 84 cross fire with stock 3.07 gears and stock stall to a 95 LT1 with ported heads and intake, LT4 hotcam, electric water pump and 1.6 RR's with 3.73 gears and a 2500 stall TQ. Things should get interesting in about 500 miles.

Funny story. I changed my gears (3.54) soon after I bought my vette. Didn't know a whole lot about gears, but figured I had stock 2.59's & I eventually wanted (happening soon) to do major mods to the engine, so I wanted to lower the gears. Anyways, when they swapped out the gears, the tranny shop informed me that I had 3.07's! If I had known that, at the time, I might have not made the change. So much for not knowing where to find RPO codes. Lesson learned. Oh well, I think it will be okay once I get the 383 stroker in and new cam, etc. :)
Sounds great, but I Dont think youll need a dana 44 if you dont drag race the car all the time at the track. The 36 should last a long time provided you dont beat the crap out of it off line all the time and have sticky tires in the back.
