Default Transgo Shift Kit installed... very please with results.

Well, the Kit is in & I must say, I love the way my Auto 86 vette shifts now. I like the firm shifts I now have. Also, added a Transgo performance 3-4 shift valve (damn those things cost $80). I hated having to drive around town in D, then upshift to OD. Now, I can leave it in OD in town and it doesn't try to jump from 2nd to OD. The shift points are at higher RPM's and it really "feels" like a sports car now. That being said, I can now safely move on to my engine mods.

I haven't yet heard about the transgo 3-4 shift valve. Do you have any additional information or links on this product and how it operates??

Only the info from "Mr Shift" , I will quote the following, as I am no expert in this area. " With Type 1 Valve Body the 3-4 shift will not be delayed above 1/2 throtle nor will it have passing gear at high speed from 4th to 3rd. The high throttle 3-4 shift is manually controlled with the shift lever. So when you do not want 4th, place the lever in "3rd" - HERE IS THE KEY!!! WITH TYPE 1 Valve Body- If you want a later high throttle 3-4 upshift or higher speed 4-3 downshift, install TRANSGO 7-4-VL special 3-4 shift valve. Hope this helps

There is nothing like a good shift kit to make a C4 drive like a real performance machine. I especially love the 1-2 chirp and even a little "wiggle" on the upshift near WOT.

Okay, here is the cost break-down. (pls sit down for this). $120 for the Transgo Kit, $80 for the 3-4 shift vavle, new "separator plate?" not sure if that is the correct term $20. Int/Rev Valave and Boost valve/sleeve upgrade $15. Total cost in parts: $235. plus 2.5 hours labor. Total cost around $450. I know that sounds like a lot, but I feel it was $$ well spent. I just love the way it shifts now. Very hard/firm shifts at higher RPM's. No lugging down or jump from 2nd to OD in town. I can't believe the difference. Now, if only I had some more HP! hehe
