Whats up guys,
Not making out to good in the search forums, so ill ask here. What kind of power can the stock auto tranny handle in my 95? How beefy is the od band?
Are the shift points controlled buy the computer or set in the vb? Thinking of some gears and I know ill have to reset the shift points, can this be done with a chip? What rpm is the converter set to stall? What is the model # for the trannys in vettes like mine?(a4?) Speedo corrections are made threw the computer for my year right?
Thanks for the help guys! This is a hole different world from the mustang I just sold, so I kinda feel like im starting all over.
Your 95 has a 4L60E tranny. Don't know how many horses it can handle. As for the chip, there isn't one. You need to get a Power Programmer. The Power Programmer will allow you to set the gear ratio, tires, etc. I am not about your other questions. Good luck!!
The computer controls the shift points in the 4L60E transmission. The ECM needs reprogramming to change that. No chips in 95, the ECM must be hooked up to a laptop or a Hypertech. Speedo changes are done that way too.
It should handle a little over 400ft-lbs of TQ. 400-425 is a gray area, and it may last for years or go after 5K miles. If you added a tranny cooler you would have less to worry about though.
