My idle has been a little wacky as of late. When i pulled into my driveway my idle was at 1000 rpm so i popped the hood to see if the throttle was sticking. Sure enough it was. Upon further examination i discovered excessive play in the shaft .
Are these replaceable bushings ??
Do i need to do some machining ??
hi agent 86,
yes the bushings can be replaced with bearing, there is a guy on CF that does it...cost is about 300US..but he rebuilds the whole thing...
I asked here locally and found out that it must be reamed with special tool and new bronze bushing could then be installed..r/r plus parts 220.00
looking into purchasing the ream kit something like 100.00$ includes bushings..
Thanks vettek 50 !!
I was hoping this could be a home project.
I sprayed lithium grease into the shaft bores for now. Works a lot smoother now. :smash: :smash:
If you're talking about an OEM throttle body, there are no "bushings"...The steel shaft rides right on the aluminum throttle body...Which is why it wears...
There is a guy named david koldos who can bore out the shaft hole, install sealed needle/roller bearings, and enlarge the butterflies to 52mm (if you wish)...
Beware of specialty firms who advertise to "replace" the bushings"...I had one shop do my worn TB, and it ended up sloppier than before...(Although they did install bronze bushings)...
