Default LT4 Knock sensor

Can some one describe the difference between this and the block mounted(?) older sensor? Is it worth it, or for that matter possible, to adapt it to an older LT1(92)?

thanks,

The LT4 knock sensor is block mounted just like the LT1. The sensor is the same #10456267. The module however for the LT4 is less sensitive than the LT1. You can only change the LT1 module to the LT4 module in the computer on 95-96. (maybe 94 also I forget).

The 96 LT4 knock sensors are different than the 94/95 LT1 sensors. If the LT4 sensors are used on a 94/95 PCm you will get a DTC 43. LT4 knock modules can be installed in any Y body 16181333 or F Body 16188051 PCMs. The results are widely scattered from doing a lot to no difference in performance. The issue was that the LT4 had roller rocker arms that were noisier than the earlier LT1 engines, the LT4 knock module had different calibrations to filter out the valve train noise.
