came outside after a rain storm only to find your vette won't start? This is very weird. I haven't driven it in the rain at all but it sat outside in a rain storm. When i tried to start it, it would only crank. It's getting spark and fuel and the distributitor cap, rotor, and ing. module have been replaced as well as the plug wires. Also a new fuel pump and filter were put in. Any ideas as to why its not starting? :banghead:
#3 isn't going to die with rain and you've verified 1 & 2? Try unplugging the ECM's 12v feed (its near the + terminal on the batter and is a single red wire connector) for one minute and then try starting it again.
After reseting the ecm the car would start up and would run for about 5 minutes and then died only to not start agian. Where can i get access to a fuel pressure guage? No one around sells one or even rents any out. Could i maybe have water in the gas? :(
If resetting the ECM does it then it could be the control module. Did you put the grease on the metal plate side of it to transfer heat from the module to the distributor housing?
If i let it sit for about 30 min. it starts and only runs for a couple of mins. then dies again. To me it almost sounds as if i have water in the gas. If the module was faulty would it still start only to die after a couple of minutes?
Does anyone else out there on the forum have any ideas? I really need to get this issue solved as my vette is my only car. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :smash:
If you think it's water in the gas you can get some stuff to pour in the tank which will "dry it" Any local parts store should have it, would be a cheap enough thing to try.
Wouldn't it have to be running atleast somewhat before that stuff can actually work. Or will putting that stuff in the gas help it to run? Right now it won't even start it just turns over.
