Hey Everyone,
I currently have 3 chambered flowmasters on my 94 vette. I bought it that way and the look really bad (hang too low) anyway, I am trying to find the right replacement, it seems like the 40 series would work, has anyone put them on? if so what tip did you use?
That sounds about right for the base 40s. These are the loudest ones with the most interior resonance. The deltas are supposed to be a bit more quiet with less resonance. I love the sound of mine, but the drone can be a bit much on long trips, especially considering my stereo is currently broken :cry
Just posted in another flowmaster thread. I got my flowmasters from MAD for my '84. They bolted right up to all the original hangers. No fabracating had to be done. I got the stainless tips, don't forget the '84 had 2 exhaust outlets for each muffler. I like them so far. I can't believe how far your present ones hang below the rear bumber. The only thing I did do was put in a few spacers to lower the tips away from the bumber, I felt the tips were a little to close, didn't want to melt any plastic.
I have the 40 series with dual outlets and WOW are they loud below 75mph on the fwy. This last weekend my ears were starting to hurt since the traffic sucked. I know corsas sound pretty good. I heard a set on a C5 and on the inside I wouldn't have known they were there, but on the outside the exhaust note was pretty nice. The only thing I like about my 40 series is how they sound behind the car, and at WOT. But, they are not for cruising on a Vette. our fiberglass bodies don't do a great job keeping that invasive resonance out. If your out in so. cal I could give you a ride sometime and you can see.
I know, I have 40's on my car right now.. The only thing I don't understand is why the mufflers in the picture are so far back? The tail end of the muffler is practically flush with the back of the bumper!! Something just looks VERY odd about the install...
I have 40 series Delta Flows. They are supposed to give a solid powerful exterior resonance & more refined interior resonance. I only know that I like them a lot and they sound great!
Those need to be installed by some one who can bend pipe.
Here is a pict of mine, They had to be adjusted to hang lower, at first they were to close.
50 series 3 chamber Flowmasters.
I have 40 series on my 85  I love'em! They are the single outlet design and I had LT1 tips welded on. At first the tips were even with the body. After about a week I had them relocated a couple of inches outward. It helped with the resonance. Love that growl! :seeya
