I am changing my plugs for the 1st time this weekend on my '95 LT1. Is this an easy exercise? Are any of them impossible to access? Do I need to remove other stuff to do the job?
They are not bad at all. I use a combination of sockets, a Snap On (I know expensive) 5/8 plug socket with a built in wobbly is my tool of choice. A short 1" extension and a long extension.
I usually remove the ASR unit and one brace from the exhaust manifold on the left side to get a little more room to get my big arms down in there. Using the snap on socket and a long (24") extension allows me to get at the plug and loosen and for most of them to remove it.
A couple of them especially on the passenger side rear you can loosen it with that combo but will have to reach down with your hands to remove the plugs. It is just to much of an angle to turn it continously even with a built in wooble on the socket. I use the 1" extension and the socket and remove it with my hands.
Get some silicone dielectric grease from your NAPA or Checkers or Kragens, or Schucks AP store and apply a dab on the plug boots before reinstalling them. This will help to remove them the next time you do the plugs.
