What one is the best out there? I see that Slp and Breathless makes one. Others? Anyone have some pictures?
TIA

Re: Cold air intake. (Corvette0096)
I would only use the SLP one, its cheaper than the Vortex and does the same thing, and Ive never heard of it having fitment problems like the Vortex.
Its not much help over a K&N/lid mod though.

Re: Cold air intake. (vader86)
You would think it would help pull colder air though the intake. My engine compartmet gets very hot due to headers.. I am after any thing I can get for a better ET.

Just know that if you put one on, your coolant temps should go up 10-20F because the air isnt going thru the radiator to cool it down.
thats the only real caviat

Re: Cold air intake. (Corvette0096)
I think that the best one I see out there is the TPIS airforce racing intake , it is much wider and more bigger from where the air pass .
several forum members are running it without any problems and they all stated that it gained a couple of tenths too .
As I can remember -=Jeff=- , ski_dwn_it and CORKVETTE1 are running it .
I am getting one of them soon

Cold air intake.
I've got a simple cut lid from LPE.
I'm on my own here I'm sure...but I think the rest of these ram air's etc are gimmicks.

Do you worry about hydrolock in the rain? I want to put one on my car but it's lowered over 3" and I'm afraid of water getting sucked in.

Is this the bottom feeder type you're talking about? What is the quality like? From the TPIS website, the plastic ones look like OEM type material.

You are right the 90-newer one is plastic.
the 85-89 one is made of Fiberglass. It is a well constructed piece. I like it much more then the BPP one I had.
here is a picture of it:

Re: Cold air intake. (-=Jeff=-)
Honestly. I think everything is crap. SLP has the best out of the aftermarket folk. The problem I encountered with the TPI intakes, is the "RESTICTIVE THROAT" on the box. I ported mine out with a dremel. TONS of area opened up. I Also have a SD swap so i have a 3" pipe eliminating the MAF. As for the intake itself.... I've been working with this a lot. TPIS design pros/cons: + Non restrictive throat area and replaces stock box. - pulls in hot air if your not going over 45MPH. Vortex.... let's skip that POS. SLP: + Great design of pulling in cold air and almost forced. - doesn't replace the stock box. I started with a stock lid, and put sheet metal over the stock vents and used RTV and rivets to seal it up good. I then drilled two 2.5" holes in the base of the lid and made my own ram air through the nose of the car. Heres some pics of it.
