3 Hours for front brakes??
I must be some kind of dumby. 3 f'in hours :mad. On average how long should it take to do front brakes?
I've done brake work on all sorts of cars and it has never taken this long. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't bend the hell out of the clip that retains the pin. :banghead:
So, anyone got any tips to make this go better next time?

 Are you looking for sympathy or do you want to feel bad? :D :jester
I can do a front wheel in less than 20 minutes, but that doesn't include changing roters or bleeding the brakes, but it does include lifting and wheel removal
Sorry, but I am not sure what the response wa you were looking for to your post :hat

Re: 3 Hours for front brakes?? (jackdaroofer)
I don't feel bad. Just like a big intellectual. What I am looking for is for you to tell me how it took 15 minutes :jester .
My biggest problem was trying to get the caliper retainer back on. Are you not supposed to take it off? Mine came off when I had to pound the outer pad out with the ratchet handle.
I am assuming after doing it that the entire assembly stays together and you just R&R the pads. Am I close?
Pop off the "E" clip, slide the pin out, the caliper comes out, remove pads, compress piston, put new pads in, reinstall caliper, slide pin in, replace "E" clip.

Re: 3 Hours for front brakes?? (Mr Mojo)
That is it! I buggered up the "E" clip removing it and after that I thought this thing is not supposed to come off so I didn't bother removing for the other side.
When I was looking at it I thought to myself how much easier it would be to just reassemble the damn thing, slide the pin through, and put that clip on.
Thanks for the help. I really need someone to beat me up over this. I think I'll post it in OT. :D :jester
I am a slow worker too. You will be faster next time though. Had to remove and replace the alternator in the wife's accord 3 times a while back and the 1st time took ~ 45 min, the last time about 5-10 min.
