Default Calling Scorp….

Hi Scorp, I read a post by you a few months old in the Tire section – did you get the GS-D3’s and if so how are they?

I’m extra interested in wet weather handling between 15 and 40mph

(Someone else posted there asking you also, I figure you’re back here and happy with the tires)

TIA

S’nut

Hi stingray. I absolutely love these things. Driving in the rain at those speeds is like the water is non existant. Its simply amazing. I also participated in my first autocross since getting the tires and I didn't ever think my car could turn a corner so fast in my life as it can with the new rim/tire setup.

Hi Scorp, thanks for the quick reply, that's really great news about the wet weather handling.

I’m not up to speed about what size tyres and rims you went to ?

I started looking for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-DS tyres here in Aus (as recommended on the forum) and the local Goodyear shop said they now have GS-D2, then I searched and found your post which mentioned D3 so I’d better get the exact name of your tyres – cos I want some !

Nothing recommended on the forum is available here – I started looking for the Kumho Ecsta MX and could only get the 712’s – not sure if they’re good in the wet….my other problem is that ‘275’ – (275 x 40 x 17) is a rare size- expensive and hard to get.

I’ve had a good quote from tirerack.com but I’d have to do the shipping and customs – there’s shipping, insurance, duty, sales tax, thieves etc etc

S’nut

I have....

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Front: 275/40-17 YR Speed Rated on a 17x9.5" Rim
Rear: 315/35-17 YR Speed Rated on a 17x11" Rim

Hope that helps. :)

Scorp,
What do you run for rim's? Been thinking of converting. I have not found a set that I like. Yet.

You able to spin those rears? Understeer a problem w/ those fatboy's?

Thanks for the input.

I have a set of the black AFS Grandsport clone rims. You can kinda see them here..

My car's ECM is out of tune in the lower RPM so I can't spin them from a slow roll unless I slip the clutch with high like 3500+ RPM. Understeer didn't seem to be a problem (but I'm not the kind of person who would probably know any better) all day saturday doing 6 runs on the course. I don't know if its an attribute of my Z51 suspension that helps with that or not though.
