exhaust gurggle when decelerating
Recently installed TPIS cat-back. Just started driving my 85 around w/o the OD on (4+3). Doesn't do it with OD on.
Does this mean too little back pressure?
Feels stronger since install - all through the RPM ranges. :seeya

The gurgle is normal. Usually you can only hear it after adding aftermarket (louder) exhaust.
It usually only happens when you take your foot off the gas and allow the wheels to slow the engine down. OD won't slow it very fast, hence no gurgle.
In the 90 I like to scare the heck out of tailgaters by dropping a few gears before a stoplight and letting the Hookers and Flowmasters sing a little :reddevil Very gratifying.

Enjoy the gurgle!! I love taking my 93 out of OD and drop it into D or 2 when coming to a stop light, just to hear that sound. I also love how it scares the old folks away from me. :reddevil

I think the sound is reffered to as "exhaust burble", at least so in ancient times (1960's), and it is considered a :cool: thing.

Hooker headers and Flowmasters will do it everytime.
Essentially the less restriction you have in your exhaust the more of that you get.
I live right off of a 55 mph road, which means usually about 60 mph in 6th gear. A fair distance before the turn I like to match rev's and drop it in third as I slow down. Lets everybody know I'm home, and it saves the brakes some too.
