1990 Automatic, when left in drive and slowing down for a stop should you be able to feel the car down shift? It also has a clunking noise when this is happening?
When the dealer fixed it, what was the cost? Also, what do you mean by TSB? Mine upshifts OK, doesn't slip, but has the "clunk" and can feel it shift down into low gear.
I had it done under warranty, the receipt shows it would have been $196.10 total for parts and labor. This is from 1992, it will probably cost more now.
I think this is ok... I think most AT vettes experience this wehnd driving in "D". I believe it is the sound of tighter gearing. But dont take my word for it.
Mine does this in D and OD but on the upshift not as noticeable and on the downshift more noticeable. The tranny is relatively new maybe a year old/5000 miles. I was worried it was a ujoint or wheel bearing but it only does it in 2nd gear no other ones and the car doesnt make the tell tell signs of a bad ujoint or bearing. Weird but I am still worried about taking in on a long trip to texas
Hmmm, wonder if that was the 3-2 servo and spring that was replaced?? Something to look into and then possibly replace during my next tranny servicing.
BUT:
I want to install my new C-beam torque plates first and see if it goes away before taking the tranny apart. :seeya
Mine has a shift kit in it and I have the "clunk" sound. When it goes to shift into 1st? it just grabs quick and hard. I lost the OD in my tranny a couple months ago and since the rebuild it shifts the same, but just not as loud.
