My fuel pump just died, I'm blaming a clogged filter due to the car sitting for about 10 months. I emptied the tank(driving) and refilled with Texaco Techron 92 octane, but it must have gunked up the filter in the mean time.
I did notice a particularly low idle durring that day's drive. Even with the AC on, which normally puts the idle near 700, it was down around 500 and lower at times.
My question is, is this the same problem? New pump and filter should fix? I'm not 100% sure because I could drive at 70+ MPH and all sounded fine. Anything else I should check?
Is your IAC valve working properly. It should boost your rpm with AC on.
If you were to unplug your IAC your symptoms would be as you describe.
Just a thought :smash:

:nonod: Cruising on the highway won't show a bad pump/filter.
What you will have to do is find an empty road and FLOOR IT! If the car loses power and trips over itself with high RPM accelerating, it may be a pump not keeping up the fuel volume, or a clogged filter.
poopiety idle might be just a clogged IAC and throttle plate.
