I've been reading all your guys' posts on which exhaust system is better, and I've heard y'all mention muffler elimination. All that is, is just taking a hacksaw to your mufflers? That has to be insanely loud, which is fine by me. But due to the lack of backpressure, i'll be sacrificing a lot of low-end power for more top-end, right? What if I have some glasspacks thrown in there as opposed to a straight pipe? To me, with my budget, the hacksaw would be a very economical choice... :D
One of my stock mufflers rusted out on the bottom and I replaced them both with the straight through tips, they have some muffler built into them. I don't think they are that loud and so far everyone else thats listened to them don't think they are either. There was no cutting of the stock pipes or hangers everything bolted right up. Those and the upgraded trannie are the only thing on mine that are not factory. On the highway it has a really nice sound and in town it only makes a signifacant noise if I get heavy footed. Mine doesn't feel like it has lost any HP if anything it feels like its gained some. :leaving:
Well that's one way to "eliminate the muffleres" but "muffler elims" are actually formed pipes with some sound control (presumably).

And plleeaassee don't worry about loss of torque on your L98 from lowering exhaust back pressure. Check out a recent dyno pull on Vic'89s site...after he installed FL headers...even more torque than stock. You just gotta tune it properly!
