Hey guys, my 95 6 speed is doing a nasty grinding noise while in neutral with the clutch in AND out. The noise isn't continous, it comes and goes. The car still drives okay, and the clutch pedal feels okay, but the noise is really bad (metal to metal grinding).
I also have a small leak from the tranny, but can't tell if it's clutch fluid or tranny fluid until I get it on a hoist. I checked the clutch fluid, and it was down a little. I've had the leak about a month, and the noise started yesterday.
I had the same noise problem last year on a really hot day, and it went away that same day (???), but no leaks. The car was driving great, and shifter was was fine.
Slave cylinder be gone? There are no leaks from the master (as far as I could tell anyway).
If I ever have a question on the ZF I call or e-mail Bill at http://www.zfdoc.com he knows the answer. He can be tough to get on the phone at times, but he religously answers ALL his e-mail...I'm still amazed he can keep up with it.
Thanks guys, will follow up. They're going to let me know if they need to drop the tranny to find out what's wrong. The guy who usually looks at my car wasn't in this week. If it needs to come out, it's 6 hours work to take out and put in, and I'll replace the clutch. The car has 124KM or 77M on it.
Anything else other than clutch, throwout bearing to replace while they're in there?
