The front left wheel is loose when I pull it back & forth. (right side is tight). It looks like the inner arm? (attached to the rack & pinion) . Sorry, that I don't know the name, but it is the part that is covered by a boot on outside of the R&P. I know that this will wear my tire out quickly. I want to replace it, but need to know if I should just go OEM, or something aftermarket? Also, what the Heck is it called. inner rocker arm? Anyways, opinions would be helpful. thanks.

It sounds to me like it's a loose tie-rod end. That's nothing to mess around with either. I was in a '65 Impala that had one break at speed. I'd repair that ASAP :yesnod:

well...I have been reading your posts with great interest and sympathy. Sounds like you are having as much fun as I am. My latest mod......I find my car on the rack at a transmission shop.

Update: GM wanted $113 for the Inner Tie Rod. I found it at Kragen for $57 & I get a 10% military discount there, so about $50 for the part. I will need the 4 wheel alignment after install of rod, so found a place that will charge $70 & a friend gave me a 50% off coupon on alignment at that shop- SO, the bottom line is good news: Part $50, Alignment $35. Grand total to fix problem $85. (must say, it is better than what Firestone wanted. If they ordered the part & installed it, & did alignment, they wanted $340! Outrageous! $120 for an alignment is BS, even if it is a Vette.
My story is done. :)
