Default What makes an LT-1 pass emissions?

The L98's had the air pump, plumbing on the headers, egr, and the egr tube. What mahes the LT-1 pass emissions if it doesn't have any of this stuff. I guess what I am asking is. Is there any other way to pass emissions whithout the pump, egr tube and the plumbing on the headers. There has got to be a better way. My air pump silinoid has broken so many times and I just keep supergluing the stupid thing back together again because you can't get them anymore exept for junk yeards, if they even know what you are talking about in the first place. So, is there a way to eliminate all this crap and adapt the lt-1 stuff to an L98, parts are a little more readily available. Just a thought

Sorry to burst your bubble....but the LT-1 has all the stuff you mentioned. EGR, AIR system with pump and plumbing on the headers. :D

They are but I am military and if I get stationed somewhere else, I might have to get tested. Also I thought the LT-1 Did away with the air pump and header plumbing? I don't remember ever seeing any plumbing. Then again I never really looked either.

The LT1 air pump is electric and located under the drivers side head lamp assy. The EGR is there and attaches to the drivers side exhaust manifold being plumbed from the back of the intake manifold. The LT4 on the other hand does not have the EGR provision. It wasn't needed to pass emissions.

Yeah the LT1 has all that, it just doesnt run off the belt. And the EGR is still there on LT1.

There is a bracket that eliminates the AIR pump altogether, it doesnt really give much HP if any (like its advertised to do) but it does make it all look better. You should see it in any Ecklers or MidAmerica catalogs.

You can remove EGR if you want, but you would want the chip reprogrammed to take out the code 32.

Thanks guys, maybe it was the LT4 I was thinking of. Is there a way I can use the electric air pump and retro fit it my L98. The reason I ask is I am trying to get the main catalitic convertor that doesn't have the air outlet and, eliminate that part all together. Like I stated before. My air pump silinoid assembly is on it's last leg. I have superglued the air lines so many times I am not sure it even works any more. I am affraid that if I have to get stationed somewhere with emmissions, I won't pass. Nobody seems to make these silinoids any more so I am looking to retro an LT-1 system to my TPI.

You dont need the AIR to pass emissions unless youre in CA, and even then i doubt they'd let you pass visual without the stock pump in place.

Once the car is warmed up, the AIR has very little effect on actual emissions. Not really enough to make you fail anywhere, well besides CA.
