Hey all, could someone kindly tell me where that amp is located in the dash on an 85?
I have the single amp set up. I wish to remove and replace it.. Thanks
:iagree: The BOSE amps are in the speaker boxes ( in the doors)
There are no speakers in the dash for FYI in the BOSE system.
I bypassed all the BOSE in my 84 (because I did not have the factory head unit) and removed the amps in the doors but left the boxes and ran all new wiring. In the rear I removed the boxes and put 6x9 in that spot.
I found the factory BOSE web site, in Florida, complete with detailed pictures and good explaination for removal with phone and address to send it back in to factory for rebuild. Site Address is: http://www.carstereohelp.com It breaks down the years and like I said, very good pictures and details. I am ready to remove my entire system this fall and send it in. There is also a price estimate in there somewhere. Just keep pointing and clicking for the info you want.
Isn't there an amp relay in the dash to the right and behind the radio. Could this be what you are referrig to, it controls the individual amps in teh speaker boxes. If you check the relay, only do so with ignition switch in accessory (or else you could screw up test as well as the relay). Wires are pink, orange, pink/black and black. Pull out info center in dash and should be easy to find. If this is what you seek, let us know and we can try to help - don't know what is wrong at this point.
Thanks to everyone for all the great info....
My issue here is that I have one speaker dead
and the system transmits alot of alternator noise.
I tried noise suppression and even put a cap off
the alternator which helps at low RPM's only...
On the highway, forget it.. Anyway, I thought
there was one amp. My mistake..
