PRE-CATS
oK MY QUESTION IS , IF I WERE TO DECIDE TO DO THIS , HOW WOULD I DO IT
WHAT TOOLS WOULD I NEED

We dont talk about gutting precats, we talk about gutting the main cat. We usually replace the front Y pipe with something aftermarket.
If you are going to change the front Y, use lots of Liquid Wrench on the three bolts and let stand overnight to avoid breaking those rusted devils.

PS - Use the caps lock to turn them off. Indicates you're yelling.

Example: My '81 Vette had no headlights (I installed them that night), no horn (guy said "just tell me that you're putting it on tomorrow ) , bad exhaust leak we didn't fix till about 2 weeks later, balding tires, and I still got inspection
Then again, my '95 was perfect except no HIGH-BEAMS and I got denied, paid $10 for nothing  :mad good thing too, because I really need those high-beams driving around with thousands of other people on roads with lights every 5 feet.
You're in the clear no matter what you do, but I'd at least have an empty cat on there :yesnod:
