What is the 3rd O2 sensor for on a 95 LT1?

What is the 3rd O2 sensor for on a 95 LT1?

Why does a 95 Vette have a third OS2 sensor (behind the cat)? I know the B-Body and F-Body LT1's don't. Is it needed? Can it be eliminated from the PCM with tuning?

Its to make sure the catalytic converter is working right. OBDII has a 2nd one behind the other cat, for a total of four O2's...

95 was an odd year. Part OBD1, part OBD2. Part of the OBD2 spec, is to monitor the cat performace. Hence the after-cat O2.

i know for a fact that on a 95 you can unplug that rear o2 sensor and have no probs. i removed my cats and did this. workd fine
