I have just installed a new 700 from bowtie overdrives. They say that the transmission temp. should not go much over 150. i have a six pass auxillary cooler installed after my heat exchanger in the radiator. with this set up my tranie temps or coolent temps dont go verry high until a stand still and idling for a fiew min. My question is how hot should the engine coolent get? and when should my fan turn on? i beleve my highest coolent temp was 226 and my fan is turning on around 220. Personally i think this is a little hot although it only happens when the car is sitting at an idle. when coolent temps reach around 220 my trans temp increases to about 180. I am trying to cool my engine and in turn cool my transmission. I have considered these methods:
1. auxillary cooling fan optn. b4p
2. coolent additive such as 40 below or purple ice (in jegs)
3. transmission additive such as pro blent trans treatment (in jegs)
4. 160 t-stat and chip
My question is which of these would be best or are there any other options?
also is the chip required when installing a 160 t-stat and which one is the best
thanks for all the input guys

The easiest would be the stat and chip. The chip turns on the fan at a cooler temp, and not required with the stat. They would only compliment each other.
Get the EPROM reporgrammed to turn on your fans sooner.
Forget the 160 stat. The engine will just take LONGER to get to whatever temp it's going to get to anyway.
With turning the fans on sooner you'll probably be able to keep it under 205 or so.
BTW, a 180 or 190 T-Stat will work for you. I think you have a 195 stock.
But the stock fan turn on temps are what's getting you right now.
