Engine harness swap questions, need info.
This winter I am considering putting a 165 engine harness into my 85.
What year harness should I opt for?
Does the engine harness effect the dash controls?
Can I change the harness with the engine in the car?
BTW, Painless Wiring has an off he shelf harness (#60102) for the 86-89 vette .

I would shoot for the 89, last year for the MAF.
Never really gave the dash much thought. I would contact painless, I'm sure one of their technicians can quickly and efficiently assist you.
I have worked with a few things from them, and they have it going on! Their stuff is a pleasure to work with. Great quality, dependable, definately the way to go.
I am especially interested in how this project goes. We are seriously thinking of making the 67 chevelle 509 CI merlin into a SD car. Although I would like to go with MAF, ducting etc, will be too hard to come/fabricate.
Definately keep us all posted on what you find out. Good luck larry.

Looks like the early 86 is the only direct swap, 88 has a different alternator connection and the late 86, 87, 88 had optional Climate Control
or
A Painless Wiring 86-89 custom harness is available, I will check with them again..
