X-Pipe and Muff Elims..... [ADVICE].... LT1/LT4.....
Hey Guys... I was pondering the thought of cutting out the resonator and putting in an X-pipe and doing muffler elims.
I have a Exhaust off a 95 LT1 Vette.... I would Use that exhaust to Cut up and Keep my exhaust just incase I dont like it, Want to sell the car, or anything.... I cant just throw the Stock back on.. and bam... back to normal
Obviously, everyones preferance of sounds and noise level differs.... But I was wondering If it would be to loud.... I dont mind noise... But I dont want to be the attraction on the street......
Should knock a tenth of 2 of the 1/4 as well.... Anyone have any results of this?
What do you guys think???

It'll be loud and you'll attract attention. It should have a healthy rumble to it but the cats should keep it bearable. If you were to remove those it would be unbearable.

I have the Dr.Gas xpipe on mine in place of the resonator. But, I have Flowmaster 40's for mufflers and the interior resonance isn't pretty at part throttle 1700-1900 RPM's. Freeway cruising is great and quiet, but that part throttle is not nice. Car sounds good idling though.....

I have a Dr Gas X pipe as well with the B&B 3" rear section. I still have a bit of resonance in that same RPM range but its been improved with the X pipe. Its bearable and not to obnoxious. If you us the muffler eliminators with no resonator its going to be LOUD, and even more so if you remove the cats as well.

Just a friendly reminder. Your LT4 has 4 O2 sensors. I'm guessing the second set is in the cat-back, which the 95 exhaust may not have provisions for. It's easy enough to get an O2 bung added, just soemthing to keep in mind.

You could buy my Tri-Flo resonator..... it's off the 3" system but gets smaller on the inside. Has a little h in the center of it, SUPPOSEDLY flows more than an x-pipe through increased velocity, several people have told me this, not sure if it's completely true, but I'd almost gurantee it's better than a stock one.

I didnt like the fact that the B&B resonator necked down to about 2.5" in its core. So I used a 3" Dr Gas X pipe to replace it. Other than that the B&B is a great system.

Thanks Nathan... I acualy forgot about that.... No big deal though, that easy...
I hope to get it done this weekend or next.....

I have TPIS longtubes, Random Tech cats, and 3" B&B X-pipe going to muffler elems. Sound is awsome, my car is a 6spd conv and sounds the way a Vette should, not obnoxious but good and throaty under acceleration and a little rumble at idle. If you take out your resignator you will probably drop 40lbs, another 25lbs if you replace the stock cats, and at least 35 lbs for your mufflers = to approx. 100lbs. How much horse power is that worth combined with the wgt savings? :steering:

Not much really since it isn't rotating weight.
At the level these cars run stock, 100lbs=0.1 in the quartermile. To gain 0.1 in the quarter without losing weight you'd have to gain approximately 10 HP.

Kevin,
My car had the Dr Gas X Pipe and muffler elims on it when you drove it.
It's not quiet, but sounds sick when getting on it.
