For about $300, what should I do next?
What I have so far: K&N filter, with open air box lid and airfoil, TB bypass, removed frisbee, open the dummy side of the mufflers. (All the free and inexpensive stuff.) BTW, this is a '91, L98.
Now I have about $300, and I am considering one of the following: a performance chip, a front Y-pipe without pre-cats, roller rockers, or SLP runners. Which makes the most sense with what I currently have, and which will give me the most bang for my buck?
I'm not looking for a drag racing vehicle, just a little more umph for the road. I don't want to give up low end torque for high end horsepower.
Is there something else that I should consider?
Thanks in advance for any advice you may give.

I didn't notice any mention of what rear gear you are running. If you still have 2.59s I would move up to 3.07 rear gears. I have seen guys selling the chunks for around $300 if you do the labor yourself.
If gears are not an option I would say either an 85 vette converter or roller rockers.

No chips just yet.
Front Y would be good, as would the 1.6rr and the SLP runners. Since they should all give about the same power with your setup, I cant see a reason why to choose one over the other really. I would probably do the 1.6rr though, since they can always be used later if you do something different in the future.

You can get a Transgo shift kit for $125 it doesn't add any hp but alot of people say it makes the car feel totally different.

a front Y-pipe without pre-cats You can have a muffler shop cut out the cats and replace them with pipe for ~$40.00 ,
roller rockers:thumbs: ,
or SLP runners:thumbs:

$300....celebrate. 5 lap dances
I'd go with roller rockers. Everything else may be thrown away if you decide to do a dual exhaust or a MR/SR. The shift kit is a good idea too.

What RRs Do you reccomend GM 96 LT4 Or after market ones. Should you replace Clips & Retainers Etc. How long does it take to do the job

GM Performance Parts rockers are the same as the Crane Golds. They are probably as good as you can get for aluminum rockers. The people who use the comp cams pro magnums really tend to like them, I'm not sure if they make a self aligning version though.
If you know how to adjust the rockers and you know how to get your valve covers off you can do it in a few hours assuming you don't have to change the springs. If you've got replace the springs you better set aside the weekend if you've never done it before. The springs and retainers will depend on what springs you use. Some can use the original parts, others won't.

The first thing I did to my Vette was Crane Roller Rockers. Not so much for the extra HP, but for a more efficent engine. I didn't even go to the 1.6s (didn't want to change out the springs at that time)

Someone mentioned a Transgo shift kit for $125. Unless you do the work yourself, It may be closer to $400 when all is said and done. Front Y sounds good to me. I would the the RR's when your ready to do the rest of the engine mods, all at once. That is, if your using a shop to install. If your doing it yourself, then go for the RR's.

My vote is on the RR's. I've never had the option though to change just the RR's and see what difference is made but i've seen how much friction is on standard compared to the free spinning design of RR's. Go with RR's. besides its classified as real engine work. :D

Only 5 lap dances? you must go to the expensive places

Pardon my ignorance, but what is "MR/SR"?
