Question about Caliper Mounting Bracket Bolts
Looking at my GM service manual - (and I remember this from before) the recommendation is to replace the mounting bracket bolts after you remove them - because of the adhesive and such.
That cost about 35 bucks for the bolts. I want to be SAFE - but is there another alternative? I.e. - can I get the red adhesive to put on the threads? Or do I just need to pony up the cash?
These bolts are torqued to 165 ft-lbs.
Appreciate any experiences / ideas / coments.
Thanks!

I believe, that with the adapters, you will need to buy at least 4 new bolts if you reuse the old ones....not only do you have to bolt the adapter to the knuckle (2 bolts per side) but you have to bolt the calaiper bracket to the adapter...two bolts per side. Check everything out carefully and fit all the parts before you bolt it up for good. I had to use some washers as spacers on the driver side between the adapter and the knuckle in order to maintain correct alignment.
Like I said, take a little time and bolt it together as a test to be sure everything is going to clear. Then you can use LOCTITE RED to bolt the adapter to the knuckle, I would use blue to bolt up the caliper bracket, but some folks use red.
Red is a b*&^H to undo, but it is easier if you heat it thoroughly with a torch and then let it cool down before trying to undo it. Blue is a little easier and since you mat have to remove the caliper bracket to change a roter from time to time, I recommend blue for this part.
