My newly acquired 96 CE LT4 came with two door openers. I tried putting a new battery in them but they still don't work. Any ideas, is there a way to determine if it is the "keyfob" or the radio receiver in the vehicle? Any tips appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! :seeya I would guess that your keyfobs just need to be reprogrammed. I can't recall the details on how to do this off the top of my head, but when I did it I followed the instructions in the owner's manual. Very easy to do. Someone probably has memorized these and will chime in. If not, I can post when I have access to the manual.
If you have the onwners manual, it steps you through the programming of them. It's possible that you have the PKE turnewd of. I do remember that to turn it on, you put the key in the ignition and hold down the "door" button on the fob for about 2 seconds, when the door locks will ratchet through. This should turn them on. On mine, for some reason, unless the fob battery was like new, it wouldn't "see" the signal from the fob while it dangled from the ignition, so I took the key off the ring and held the fob where a good signal was read. Hope this helps. If it's a reprogram thing, and you don't have a manual, email me and I'll look it up real quick.
Good Luck

Thanks guys, I tried the procedure in the user manual. I can't get anything out of the keyfob buttons. I have two of them. My feature is apparantly turned off because it doesn't show up on the information panel when you turn the key on. Does anyone know where the signal is actually received from the keyfob?

By the doors and off the rear. I think convertables are different if memory serves. Something like not receiving off the passenger door, but I'm not certain. They say up to 3' radiusing out from center rear and door jams.
