I recently got a pair of et streets for the iroc. I now can pull consistent et's (13.80's) and consistent 60 ft's (1.95-2.05).
I believe the stock converter is in there. I assume that is the best that can be done since it is hooking great.
I would think you could get a better 60' than that with slicks. The TPI car's strong point is it's low end torque which should help out a lot on your 60' times. I was able to get 2.00 60's on my stock LT1 on street tires with a 6-spd. That would be less low end torque, a much less sticky tire, and a lot harder launch to control.
I really believe that you should be able to do better than that. I'm sure some of the TPI guys will chime in with more advice.
with my 86 vette, i get 1.90 60' times all day long, with an occasional 1.8. that is with a set of BFG T/A's and launching at 1800-2000 rpm's. i'm sure with et slicks you could be doing better. what are you launching at?
When my '85 was only slightly modified (bolt ons, ram air, slp runners, etc) I pulled 1.8 60foots, with a 1.81 being the lowest last year. This was runnign on stock 16" wheels with Firehawk SZ50 street tires, not even dr's.
I jusy mashed it from idle and off it took, no wheelspin by what I could tell.
I think you shoul dbe able to pull better 60foots, but I have also seen that f-bodies are heavier and post not as good 60foots as the vettes inj stock or near stock form.
Hello Friends!!
I am quite stunned to hear that som of you could hit the pedal from 800rpm and go away without weelspin, You are some lucky guys
If I tryed that here in my raceway I will spin my tires to hell. I have Toyo 315/40-17 back and I had never ever gone away witout houghe wheelspin. My best 60` Is 1,9 and it was spinning like hell.
Could somebody tell me what I making wrong?
With a low/stock stall, you are probably maxed out on 60' time. If you are planting the gas from idle, which allows converter flash, and still not spinning that should be all it's got.
With my stock 1,500rpm TC I was pulling low 2.x 60' times launching off idle (well about 900rpm).
With the 2,000rpm modified GN TC I now launch at 1,700rpm and pull 1.9x 60' times. I noticed that the early L98 powered Vettes had this stall TC and were pulling better short times so went with the same setup with good success.
When the strip is slipery I have to roll into the throttle as I'm running stock GY Eagles. But on a tight track with good rubber down I can hammer it and pull 1.8x 60's.
