I have a 1993 coupe (automatic). The power door locking mechanism on the passenger side doesn't work. The indicator that tells you the door is locked moves back and forth, but it doesn't engage the locking mechanism. The only way to lock and unlock the passenger side door is with the key (from outside the vehicle). I have the door panel off and I can see the metal connection from the locking indicator (the thing that tells you whether or not the door is locked) to the lever on the actual lock isn't connected. I can get the metal connection back in the holes in the lock mechanism lever, but it doesn't stay there (it keeps popping out when I use the power lock to see if it works). It looks like there is suppose to be sometype of c-clip on the end of the metal connection that goes into the lever on the actual lock. I realize I didn't explain this too well, but if anybody knows what I'm talking about, could you please help. Thanks.
It sounds like your missing the clip that retains it .
Check with your local G.M. dealer and they can show you an exploded view to see what your missing.
You may just find it sitting in the bottom of the door cavity.

Re: Power Door Locking mechanism (AGENT 86)
There's a plastic or nylon piece that slips into the hole, and the end of the lock rod snaps into it. I don't have a pic on my computer, but I know what it looks like.
Get a "push nut" and stick that on there. It'll hold the lock rod in place. :yesnod:
