Driving normally, left turns no problem. When turning left and getting a little spririted, the engine dies mid way through the turn. Only happens when the fuel tank is 1/4 or less. Anyone have this problem before? I'm fairly certain it's a fuel pick up problem. It it common in 84s?

Check that the short piece of hose that connects the pump to the steel fuel lines (inside the tank) is intact... Mine was swollen and had no hose clamps fitted.... Replace this with a short piece of fuel hose with clamps and your problem will disappear :) :)
Also, 84 pumps are crap, they are flat out holding proper fuel pressure (10-13psi) under load.. The 85 pump works alot better in this case..

Just about everybody there runs an '85 pump!
Seeya,

I've never starved my car for fuel in a curve, but I've certainly done it on the straights. Any time I'm around 1/4 of a tank I just lay off of it until I can get gas or I'll slosh it away from the pickup. There might not really be anything wrong with your car, just a small design flaw.
