fuel injector question
Ive been having a rough idle problem. A friend suggested checking the injectors. He said to disconnect the injectors 1 at a time while it was idling to see which injector, if any, is causing the problem. His thinking was that when I disconnected the bad injector there would be no change in the rough idle but when I unplugged good injectors the idle would get rougher. Well, what happened was unplugging them 1 at a time had absolutely no effect except for the number 3 cylinder. I unplugged that injector and it stalled and died. I unplug any of the others and theres no change at all. Does that mean I have 7 bad injectors? Its a '91 L98 coupe, ZF6 speed w/108k miles. Thx for any info.
Unplugging the injectors one at a time should have no effect. The IAC will compensate and maintain idle. Retest and if stalls on #3 again, check the connector for a short to ground and/or verify that the wiring is in good shape. An open in the harness or a short will kill all the injectors and cause it to stall. Also check the injector fuses. Otherwise, if want to check injectors, measure resistance across the terminals. They should all be the same. Other than that, you can run a balance test which will require a special tool to energize each injector and a fuel pressure gauge to measure the pressure drop.

Re: fuel injector question (SunCr)
7 of the 8 are 17.5 ohms resistance and the 8th one is 4 ohms. And guess what....thats the number 3 injector. Maybe thats the bad one and the others are good?

Re: fuel injector question (joeveto)
I did a search first and there wasnt much as far as injectors go. SLP Performance online sells a set of 8 Bosch injectors for $99 and thats what I think Im gonna do. I understand the Bosch is worlds better than the stock Multecs they used in my year. http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...&SHOWEMAIL=Off
Well shoot...I was checking "recent" rather than "archived" topics for injector info....
