Default Spark Plug Gap Size

Presently, in my 383 I am running NGK TR6 gapped at 0.038". I have a MSD 6AL, and 8 mm Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires.

From doing some reading, I found that with my higher spark aftermarket ignition, I don't need the gap so close and would probably be better at about 0.045" - 0.050".

I also run nitrous, so can someone tell me which gap would be best for me? I don't run cut back plugs...yet...just haven't gotten around to it.

Why are you running a TR6 plug and not a TR55? Running nitrous?

Yes Scorp, I run nitrous. TNT 150 wet kit. Although I ran my bottle empty before making it to the track, heh.

No problem man, I get that way too often as well.

So, should I open the gap up? I heard it will yield more power + better fuel economy.

With a hotter spark you could run with wider gap NA, but NOS builds higher cylinder pressure which takes more energy to begin the burn so I wouldn't open the gap much if any.
