So, i have the driver's side all bolted back together .. just have to put the cat-back back on. But OF COURSE ... problems with the passenger side again :cry . So i was putting the cat back on the passenger side. Bolting up the three studs on the header. Well, i come to find out that one of the stud holes in the header is stripped when i start tightening down the nut on it .. so i pull it out and get my 7/16th's tap. I start tapping away - everything is going fine.. then SNAP! My tap broke in HALF inside the bolt hole of the header :(.
What do I do?? I am wondering if I should drill out that entire bolt hole including the tap and put a nut (ground off of course because of clearance) on top and just bolt it up that way ... ? Any ideas?? That's all I have left to do except bolt the catback on ... :(
Drill it out using a smaller drill bit than the size of the tap, then pry the edges of the tap out with a screw driver. Then, buy a higher quality tap and continue where you left off.
My brother did almost the exact same thing on his '70 Charger and did the above. He spent some un-godly amount on a snap-on tap and die set, but it worked.

Oh, and recommendations on where to get a tap that will work?? Do i need to order one from Snap-On ? Only way to get one that is strong enough?
I am sure there are plenty of quality tap and die sets other than Snap-On, my brother was just pissed off and impulsive, so he bought the snap on. I am sure a Craftsman or Proto or SK tools set would work fine.
I'll go with Craftsman ... :D Now i just have to wait for halftime of the OU/MZ game to go get one. And a new drill since drilling out all this poopie lately has taken a toll on my old craftsman my grandfaterh gave me years ago.
Ok, got a new 6amp 2500rpm drill, new tap, and a couple new drill bits to get that biotch out of there. The damn auto parts stores closed early tonight, so did Ace Hardware - so I don't have the stud/bolt/nut to do the job tonight, but I'll get it drilled out.
