Hey Jack, bryan here.
Mine did that and it turned out the fuel pump was getting weaker and weaker over time. It started off as a knock only under hard throttle. I backed the timing off and wentaway, but then a few months later it was back. More timng retard, but it didnt go away completely this time. I then noticed the car not running well at upper RPMS. In the end it was the fuel pump, and it took about 12 months for all this to take place. It didn't go bad over night, it took it's time.

I would be inclined to check the timing just to be sure it's within spec. If so try backing off a couple of degrees and see if that helps. If so then switching to a higher octane just might be the simple solution. Don't forget to reset the timing back to spec.
