I'm quickly making a mess of my runners, while trying to remove them. I have one broken fastener in there, and it's making this whole situation pretty bad (I don't have clear access to it, or else it would already be removed).
So my question is: If I'm able to get these off, or even if I have to get replacements (most of which are dented also), can I fix these dents?
To remove the factory "dents" by the lower bolt holes I placed the runner on a block of wood, and used a well chosed socket on a 1/2" extension as a dent removing tool.
A few careful smacks with a hammer on extension while rolling the socket across the inside of the dent does a fair job of at least opening up the runner. If you use some finesse the old dent will be hard to detect.
The "book" says to force the correct size ball bearing through the runner to remove dents, but I never seemed to have one of "those" in my took box. :jester
They can be repaired or you can buy reconditioned (stock, chrome or polished) at Street & Performance http://www.hotrodlane.cc - stock, I think, is a $100 plus shipping.
