Default Question for the vert guys

On the later deck lids (89 up) how does the release cable attach to the release mechanism? The cable has a barrel on the end, and the release mechanism has a BIG wire loop.

Heres a pic to help. Originally I thought I was missing a peice, but the pic shows no extra peice.

If possible, send close up pic of yout latch. I have the hardtop finally installed on my 86 using some rr hardware I fabed, but when I really snug it down, the release pops. Found a later complete 91 decklid on ebay for $40.00 bucks, so I snagged it. The cable came with it, but it is disconected and I can't figure it out.

The loop on the cable end just twists around the hook on the release -- doesn't matter which way -- one way will twist the cable, so try it the other way. You got all the parts. You may need to adjust the cable length with the barrel adjuster on the cable.

Thanks for the pic. Looks like I'm missing that blue plastic peice, and by the looks of the blowup diagram, its not available. Quess I'll have to spin something up on the lathe.

Thanks guys. Once again you come up with answers. Imagine how much these cars would cost us if we didn't have this forum.
Sure saves some :banghead:
