My window rubs againts my hardtop on the drivers door. I have adjusted the 2 top felt guides in every possible combination with no improvement. Is there some other adjustment I can make to rectify this?
Also.......I remember this piece falling out of my drivers door about a year ago when I replaced my top weatherstripping. Any idea as to where it goes? This may have something to do with my problem.
I figured I ask before I tear into the passenger door to use it as a reference.
I did a pretty extensive one about a year ago - I found it in the archives. I tried to post it in "tech tips", but that proved more difficult than adjusting the glass! Here it is: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=467278
In the area where you adjusted the fuzzy things you will find 2 more bolts the same size. These are the ones that let the glass move in , out. They hold the track adjustment. The fuzzy things are just anti rattlers.
Re: Help needed with window alignment (Spankyellow)
these windows are so fricken complicated, my driver side window was exactly the same. My step dad adjusted mine... it took him like 1 hour to adjust it. Sorry if I'm not helping.. all I know is that our windows are a head ache to adjust.
SWEET! I just replaced my weatherstiping and now my car leaks because the windows are out of alignment. I've been driving my car around with the passenger side door panel off because I am still messing with it. I will try your method this weekend.
thanks thats exactly what i was looking for... replacing door weatherstripping, soundproofing, anti-rattle pads, so might as well align the window for a better fit...
I moved the window some and raised the door some. The window now clears it by about 1/4 "
Cool! After looking again at the image you posted and where the window is hitting it does appear that your door could be sagging a little. Maybe your hinges are getting worn? I don't know if I mentioned in my thread but checking the hinges for wear is as easy as opening the door and lifting the back of it up and down, if there's any play in the hinges you'll feel it.
There's probably only a handful of people here that have ever attempted it.
Out of that handful there's probably one of two that got it right.
The only way to adjust it is WITH A LOT OF PATIENCE.
The window can be adjusted in just about ALL directions.
There's an UP limiter.
The window will TILT in and out. It will TILT forward to back.
It will adjust forward or back.
There's practically limitless combinations of adjustments.
Plan on leaving the door panel off for a couple weeks.
When you FINALLY get it close to right you'll want to zero in with smaller adjustments.
I don't think there is any 'getting it JUST right' on the first try or two.
