Default help with antenna 1993

I have the antenna assembly removed from its bracket, but I am unsure how to remove the actual mast so it can be replaced with the new one. Does the antenna wire come off the side at all? I have removed the small round nut at the top of the housing( bottom of the mast) .TIA Tj [IMG][/IMG]

I'm not sure if i understand correctly. If it's the mast only than you will have to drill out the rivets in the antenna body and open it up. Then use machine srews and nuts to reassemble.

In Most cases, you just energize the antenna motor and the antenna will come all the way out of the housing. If all of the antenna toothed ribbon comes out, then just insert the new antenna ribbon until the end hits the bottom of the motor reel inside, then re energize the motor and the antenna will reel back inside. Place the teeth in the same direction that they came out. If there is any less than the full ribbon length, then you must disassemble the motor housing to remove the piece left inside. It works best if you have two people. One to hold the new antenna in place and the other to turn the radio on to energize the motor. The antenna goes in really fast so be ready to feed it in.

okay, I will try drilling the rivets out, but how does the antenna cable from the stereo attach to the unit. I cannot completely remove the motor body to place it on a flat surface. I didn't want to pull down on the cable in case it broke off inside

the antenna cable from the radio unplugs from the antenna mast/motor assembly. Just pull on the cable where it goes into the motor. there should be a pigtail attached to the motor assemby with a heavier black collar.

Hello all 1st time in...tmarshall60 i just repaired my antenna n here it goes...after taking nut from top of car off u remove both nuts on bracket ...this was the easy part...i then reached up n removed the nut for the 2 wires att. to 1 side of the unit n it came down enough to remove the ground wire...now it just hangs until u remove both screws on the motor housing( 2 philips), while holding the top part of antenna n bottom part, kinda wiggle back n forth...my antenna cabla stayed on the bracket, there isn't a connection underneath... the mast didn't undo till i did this last undoing...i had my bro hold the motor n THEN after turnig radio on the ribbon undid itself...my problem was the antenna didn't retract fully when turning radio off ,leaving about 3 in. up...after seeing the plastic ribbon wasn't broke we cut it off n fed it back in, u can check this by settin it back in the hole without the bracket screws in....hope this helps all... DD ps. it helps taking the wheel n well off...
