Boost and Octane
I'm wondering if there is a typical limit of psi that we can run before we can't run pump gas anymore. I guess our engines aren't very standard compared to the supra engines, but there should be a rough number. I'd expect it be inversly proportional to the compression ratio. Has anybody run into this or can we just "tune" our way out of it by adding an intercooler and/or retarding timing. I'd really hate to have to run race gas or octane booster all the time.
-Compression
-camshaft
-size of ports in the head
-size of quench area
-design of piston
-Boost
-Total Timing
- Temperature of intake air [ ie ] Intercooler Efficiecncy
-Water/Alky Injection
- A/F Ratio Lean engines detonate sooner than rich ones do.
