I have an 84. This only happens when its cold (about 50 degrees F and under) My brakes seem very hard, especially if I apply them quickly. It feels as if the booster is not working. My booster is brand new/rebuilt and the master cylinder is only a couple of years old as well. It seems like there is good vaccum to the booster but its hard to tell. The line from the intake to the booster does not seem the have any leaks and my engine does not run with a high idle like I would have a Vac leak. I really need to get this figured out because its nearing winter time. I would also like to ask if any one has a diagram of the 84's vac lines. Thanks.
My 84 has been doing this for years! Only acts up when its cold! As soon as warm weather comes or car gets hot problem is solved? I am gonna try & change all my brake fluid someday. :smash:
Gid, my 84 has this same problem. Have not figured it out yet. There is a filter of some type on the vaccum line going to the booster. Maintence schedule says it is supposed to be replaced every 10,000 miles. Mine has never been replaced. I bought a reman'd booster too, but have not put it on yet. My guess is it is in the booster.
Thanks Lynn. I changed the booster. I guess it could be a bad remaned booster but i doubt it. I will try bypassing the filter thing next. What is it for anyway?
My lowly '84 does the same thing.
Even with all new parts.
Is that normal?
All the good guys. All of you, you know whom I mean.

Re: I am having bad brake problems (yoslambo1@cs.com)
I wish I didnt have to drive mine in the winter wither, but I just sold my truck so the Vette is the primary vehicle for me again. Thats why I have to fix it.
I have no clue when the Crossfire Injection Vault will be back up. I have not heard anything new. I do know that Ken is supposed to be getting Cable data service today so maybe we will see something soon. Sorry for the long wait. I too am having withdrawls.
Just guessing here:
When it's cold, rubber parts (metal also to a lessor extent) shrinks. As things heat up, they expand, closing up some tolerances?????
Exactly why I thought it was the booster. But i have tried that $130 shot in the dark. Maybe other rubber connections. When it is cold, my idle does not go up like it would if i had a vacuum leak? :banghead:
